Where to stay to play Vale de Milho, Carvoeiro's nine-hole par-3 course: 10 well-rated hotels all within about 10 minutes, from apartments at around €50 a night to boutique B&Bs, with drive times, breakfast hours and golf perks.
Vale de Milho is one of the friendliest rounds in the Algarve: a nine-hole course just outside Carvoeiro where every hole is a par 3. Designed by four-time Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas, it needs no handicap certificate and takes far less time than a full course, which makes it ideal for beginners, families and anyone who wants to sharpen their short game.
Carvoeiro has plenty of places to stay within a few minutes of the first tee. Below are 10 of the best, all rated above 8 out of 10 by guests and all within about 10 minutes of the course, from self-catering apartments at around €50 a night to boutique B&Bs and clifftop resorts.

Every hotel here is rated at least 8 out of 10 by guests on Booking.com and is no more than about 11 minutes from the course by road. Drive times are calculated by road to the clubhouse. Breakfast hours and golf services come from each hotel's own website wherever possible, and we only mention a golf perk if the hotel actually states it.
Prices are the lowest average nightly rates we found in October 2026, usually for the quietest winter months. Spring and autumn, peak golf season, cost more, so treat them as a guide rather than a quote.
The natural choice for this course. The resort says its guests get an exclusive 20% discount on green fees at Vale de Milho Golf, which is just a couple of minutes away. Its two- and three-bedroom townhouses each have a private pool and a full kitchen, and the price is for the whole townhouse, so it works out very well for a family or a group of four golfers.
A large self-catering resort of apartments and villas less than a kilometre from the course, with prices from around €55 a night in February. The resort says its reception will arrange your golf if you tell them what you need. There is a restaurant, a café-bar serving breakfast, a free shuttle to Carvoeiro beach, tennis, mini golf and a heated indoor pool in winter.
Clifftop studios and apartments run by Pestana, three minutes from Vale de Milho. Pestana says guests get exclusive benefits and discounts at its Gramacho and Vale da Pinta courses, so it is a smart base if you want to add a full 18-hole round to your short-course practice. Breakfast is charged separately, but every unit has a kitchen.
A quiet, very well-rated hotel and villa complex in the countryside east of Carvoeiro, about 10 minutes from the course. Breakfast starts at 7.30am, there are three outdoor pools and a wellness centre, and the hotel runs a free transfer into Carvoeiro, handy if you want dinner in the village without driving.
Run by the same group as Vale de Milho Village, these self-catering apartments score a remarkable 9.4 on Booking.com. Members of the operator's Carvoeiro Clube Group club get discounts on golf within the group. There is no breakfast service, but the saltwater pool is heated in winter. You will need a car.
Five-star villas set in gardens, with a spa, indoor pool and restaurant, and breakfast from 7.30am. At 9.3 on Booking.com it is one of the best-rated resorts in Carvoeiro. A great base for a group of friends who want their own villa, and it is also close to the Pestana courses at Gramacho and Vale da Pinta.
A five-star resort of spacious suites and townhouses with kitchens, plus a spa and a wellness centre with sauna, Turkish bath and jacuzzi. The resort lists Vale de Milho Golf at 5.2 km, with Gramacho and Vale da Pinta even closer, so it is a comfortable base for playing all three.
A five-star clifftop resort with sea views, a full spa and indoor and outdoor pools, five minutes from Vale de Milho. It is one of the best-known golf-holiday hotels in Carvoeiro: UK tour operators sell packages here with rounds at Gramacho and Vale da Pinta, and a quick nine at Vale de Milho fits neatly around them.
An exceptionally rated six-room B&B (9.8 on Booking.com) five minutes from the course, with breakfast included and a pool with an honesty bar. It has no golf services and breakfast only starts at 8.15am, so it suits relaxed mid-morning rounds rather than early tee times. Minimum stay is three nights.
Self-catering flats, bungalows and suites on the clifftops beside the Algar Seco rock formations, rated 9.3 by guests. The resort can arrange tee times and taxi transfers, and its bistro serves breakfast from 9am to 11am. Vale de Milho is about seven minutes away by car.
According to the club, green fees are the same all year: €22 for nine holes and €33 for 18, with juniors paying €15 and €22. Adults play the nine par 3s for a par of 27, while juniors play a customised par-35 layout. You can book online and pay at the clubhouse, and up to four players can share a tee time.
A few things to know. There are no buggies, but trolleys can be hired, and rental equipment is not available for tee times after 3pm. Every player must have their own bag with at least a half set of clubs. The clubhouse serves food and drinks, and lessons are available with a PGA professional. Opening hours change with the seasons (roughly 9am to 5pm in winter and longer in summer), so check the club's website before you go.
Combine it with a full 18. Vale de Milho is a short-game course, so many visitors pair it with bigger rounds nearby: Vale da Pinta is about 11 minutes away, Gramacho about 13 and the new Pestana Ferragudo about 17. If you are heading there, see our guide to hotels near Ferragudo Golf Course.
Great for beginners and families. No handicap is needed and every hole is a par 3, so it is a relaxed place to introduce children or new golfers to the game. Self-catering resorts such as Vale de Milho Village and Rocha Brava work especially well for families.
Getting there. Faro Airport is about 70 km away, roughly 50 minutes to an hour by car. Most of the hotels above are a short drive from the course, so a hire car makes life much easier.
Vale de Milho Village, about two minutes away by car, is the closest, and its guests get 20% off green fees. Rocha Brava Village Resort is also less than a kilometre from the course.
No. Vale de Milho is a nine-hole par-3 course open to all golfers, and no handicap certificate is required.
Pestana Palm Gardens has apartments from about €51 a night in the quieter months, and Rocha Brava Village Resort from about €55. Both are within three minutes of the course.
